During the Khmer Water Festival, Sihanoukville Receives Up to 500,000 Visitors

Sihanoukville: According to Mr. Taing Sochet Krishna, director of the Sihanoukville Provincial Department of Tourism, approximately 500,000 visitors came to Sihanoukville for the three-day Khmer Water Festival from November 7 to 9, 2022, an increase of 344.55% compared to the previous year.

He stated that there were 494,919 tourists in total, an increase of 344.55%, of which 488,608 were local visitors (an increase of 363.62%) and 6,311 were foreign visitors (an increase of 6.39%).

Additionally, there were 6 flights that arrived at the airport, carrying a total of 249 passengers, an increase of 500%, which included 16 local visitors and 233 foreign visitors. (In 2021, there was only 1 flight arriving, with 22 people in total: 5 locals and 12 foreigners.)

In regards to visitors to the islands in Sihanoukville, there were 2,780 in total, an increase of 1.46%, of which 1,948 were locals (a decrease of 20.68%) and 832 were foreign visitors (an increase of 192.96%).

As for beaches and resorts, a total of 491,890 visitors showed an increase of 353.07%, of which 486,644 were locals (an increase of 372.79%) and 5,246 were foreigners (a decrease of 6.95%).
